Author and comedian Joanne Brookfield

Joanne Brookfield has spent two decades working in the world of comedy, as both a journalist and a stand-up comedian.
She has now interviewed more than 60 women in comedy for her book No Apologies.
She tells presenter Tara Nash that one of the themes in the book is “how extraordinary women are”.
“There are obstacles for women, and women just have this resilience, persistence and determination,” she says.
“The feminist saying ‘Nevertheless, she persisted’. That’s something I tried to celebrate in the book and hopefully inspire other women thinking about getting into comedy.”
