Nation-leading service faces uncertain future

Uniting Communities’ Communication Partner Service connects volunteer communication partners with clients, to assist in communication exchanges between them and police officers, lawyers and judges.
The service is nation-leading and other jurisdictions are using this service as a model for their local services.
But last year, the State Government announced funding cuts to the service and now it faces an uncertain future.
Service Manager, Anisa Leaver, has been with the service since the beginning; she speaks to Small Change‘s Lisa Burns about her reaction to the service cuts, the clients they work with, and why the service is so highly regarded around Australia.
