Ngarrindjeri woman paints #IWD2019 poster
Posted on: Wed 13 Mar 2019
Women’s Safety Services SA has released its second-ever International Women’s Day poster on the theme of ‘strength in diversity’.
The artwork for the poster was designed by artist Josie Wilson, a Ngarrindjeri woman who has experienced domestic violence.
Josie speaks to Small Change‘s Lisa Burns about what it’s meant to her to feel strong and powerful, to express herself through her art, and to be celebrated for her achievements in the presence of her family.
Isobel Montgomery and Maria Hagias from Women’s Safety Services SA describe Josie’s transformation since she first came to the WSSSA for help, and the importance of celebrating and honouring the women they support.
