Decrease in male teachers

Male teachers have been in decline since 1977, with female teachers representing the dominant ratio in Australian schools. Female teachers account for 97% of pre-primary teachers, 85% of primary teachers and 68% of secondary teachers, with research suggesting that men finding more appealing pay in other occupations.
Massimiliano Tani, Professor of Finance and Economics at the University of New South Wales, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Casey Tonkin to discuss more.
