Michael Veitch: The Hellship and the migrants
Posted on: Tue 25 Dec 2018
Author, Actor, Broadcaster Michael Veitch is the great great grandson of two people who left Scotland in 1852 bound for Australia aboard what was to become known as the Plague Ship…. the Ticonderoga. It was bringing men, women and children from the Scottish Clearances and potato famine to Melbourne, Victoria.
Michael has written a book about this infamous period in his family’s closet. Fittingly, the book is called ‘Hell Ship’, and Michael tells listeners about it.
