The stigma of accessing welfare as a single mum
Posted on: Fri 21 Dec 2018
People representing Anti-Poverty Network SA have come together to rally outside the ALP National Conference and insist the Party commit to an immediate increase to Newstart.
One of those people was Michelle who after finishing her degree to become a dietitian 17 years ago, later found herself raising a child as a single mother.
She speaks to Small Change‘s Lisa Burns about her experiences and the stigma of being a single parent, and in particular a single mother accessing welfare.
