Artists needed for Place of Courage memorial
Posted on: Thu 9 Aug 2018
Helen Oxenham was behind the development of the women’s shelter at Christies Beach in 1977, and now is spearheading a project to set up a domestic and family violence memorial through not-for-profit organisation, Spirit of Woman.
The project has the support of some local councils and is seeking expressions of interest from South Australian artists who wish to be considered for the Place of Courage artwork commission.
Helen Oxenham, along with City of Adelaide Councillor, Priscilla Corbell-Moore and City of Onkaparinga Councillor, Gail Kilby, speak to Small Change‘s Lisa Burns about the progress of the project and the importance of having a place to honour those impacted by family and domestic violence.
