In the dark about energy policy

The Federal Government’s proposed National Energy Guarantee is still surrounded by uncertainty. It was formulated last year by the newly created Energy Security Board. Since then, the ESB’s estimate of electricity cost benefits have varied several times.
Energy experts from 11 Australian universities, are calling for state and territory ministers to ensure that the ESB’s modelling for the NEG is available for proper scrutiny.
One of those is Bruce Mountain, Director of the Victoria Energy Policy Centre, at Victoria University. Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to him about the shortcomings of the NEG process.
