Posted on: Tue 10 Jul 2018
Fifty years on from one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in Australian history. The ‘Mungo Lady’ was the remains of an Aboriginal woman discovered at Lake Mungo in 1968, the remains had been there for 40,000 years, doubling the previous estimate of how long people have been here for.
Breakfast’s Casey had a chat with Monash University’s Professor Lynette Russell to find out what it meant to Australia and what it has taught us.
