Fight for the Bight!

The Great Australian Bight is a diverse and pristine marine environment. However this doesn’t hold much sway with oil companies eager exploit its oil resources.

Community campaigning has led to 2 oil companies pulling out of the Bight. But the Norwegian Government-owned Statoil still has plans to begin exploratory drilling.

Barometer’s Des Lawrence speaks to Cristel Chambers of the Wilderness Society about the campaign of community opposition to the proposed drilling and the potential consequences for the Great Australian Bight should it proceed.
