Figures show 1 in 7 primary school children has a diagnosable mental health disorder.
These figures rise to 1 in 4 by the time the children get to high school.
The statistics are alarming, and a new campaign called, I am Enough, focuses on self-esteem and urges parents to help their children.
Founder of the campaign, Samrat Karki says, ‘Strong criticism doesn’t make children more resilient, it puts them at risk of depression’.
Samrat Karki joins Breakfast’s Tom and Casey to discuss.
