Work, Unemployment & Welfare: Then & Now
Posted on: Thu 10 May 2018
The Labour History Society of SA is holding an event examining what life was like for workers and the unemployed in the Great Depression, how much has changed and what learnings we should be taking away from this period in time.
Work, Unemployment & Welfare: Then & Now will be held this Sunday at the Box Factory Community Centre at 2pm. The event is free and no bookings are required.
Historian and political economist, Associate Professor Ray Broomhill and Small Change’s Ross Womersley, who will both be speaking at the event, discuss life before the Depression in Australia, its long-lasting impact and the treatment of the unemployed, then and now.
