Unemployed women’s group to hold first meeting

Posted on: Thu 8 Mar 2018

The Australian Unemployed Worker’s Union is a national volunteer organisation dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of unemployed workers and pensioners.

At the beginning of this year, the South Australian Branch of the union was set up, and this week the SA Women’s Branch will be holding its first ever meeting.

State Branch Coordinator, Hayden Patterson, and Sonja Bajic, who is assisting with the SA Women’s Branch, speak to Small Change‘s Lisa Burns about why the women’s branch has been set up, and their hopes for its future. They also discuss the work of the South Australian Branch and the stories they’re hearing from community members in Ceduna who are living on the Basics Card.
