Monsteria is a mixture of mischievous, monstrous, delicate, revengeful, ridiculous, and circus!
Monsteria is on at the Empire Theatre, Royal Croquet Club, Pinky Flat/Tarnda Womma, War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide until March 4.
Presented by GUSH, Monsteria meddles with extremes of femininity – distorting stereotypes, contorting body parts, revealing assumptions, and fighting off expectations.
GUSH is a new Brisbane-based, feminist circus ensemble, made up of four highly experienced women. Anna Yen, clown, warrior woman, and slackroper; Bianca Mackail, demented aerialist and acrobat; Mayu Muto, unexpected and unconventional aerialist and dancer; and director Celia White, performance-maker with a queer perspective and a feminist agenda.
