Environmental Alarm at Leigh Creek
Posted on: Thu 18 Jan 2018
Leigh Creek residents are furious over proposals by the state government to implement an underground coal gasification project in the area.
The technology has previously been linked to serious environmental damage in other parts of the country, and the local Indigenous community is worried about the cultural damage that may result as well.
Conservation SA chief executive Craig Wilkins joins Tom Jordan to explain the process of gasification and how his organisation is working to oppose the proposal.
