The Gladys Elphick Awards acknowledge the achievements of Aboriginal women and celebrate the life achievements of the late Aunty Gladys Elphick and her fellow members of the Council of Aboriginal Women of South Australia.
Of the five award categories, the regional award is given to an Aboriginal woman who is actively contributing to the community and initiating positive change to the lives of others.
This year, Jennifer Scott, was honoured for her work as Senior Community Constable in Ceduna.
Jennifer told Small Change’s Lisa Burns about her work, what she’s learnt in her role as a police officer and what it means to receive such an honour.
