Yikes! It’s a snake

Sun, sea, and snakes are all synonymous with the Australian summer, but only the first two are broadly welcomed. Australia’s snake species generate a degree of fear, with brown snakes among the most feared. Is this fear justified?

To discuss our relationship with snakes, Barometer’s Des Lawrence sought some answers from Gavin Smith, Associate Professor in Sociology, at the Australian National University, and also a professional snake catcher.

Gavin also talked about his involvement in snake movement research.
