Welfare Seekers Required to ‘Perform’ Vulnerability

Many vulnerable Australians seek government support every year to get by. However, the process to access these services often requires applicants to prove their vulnerability and recount the hardship they are experiencing.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Western Sydney University Emma Mitchell joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Shannon Pearce to discuss what effect this process has on disadvantaged Australians and our expectations of hardship.
