Strange veto of gas-drilling plan should not be overturned

Posted on: Tue 30 Aug 2022

Since the federal election, the parliament has been rocked by extraordinary revelations, that while Prime Minister, Scott Morrison had secretly assumed control of numerous ministries, including the resources portfolio.

He went further and used his new powers to knock back a gas-drilling proposal off the New South Wales coast.

To examine that gas-drilling proposal in particular and Australia’s overall gas strategy,  Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Professor Samantha Hepburn from the Deakin University Law School, where her research interests include climate governance and energy transitions.                                                                                                                                                                           Morrison’s veto of a gas-drilling plan off Sydney was strange – but it should not be overturned
