A Novel November: 50 000’s the Word

Posted on: Tue 23 Nov 2021

Turning another page as the month of November progresses, the words are clocking up for many.

For just over two decades, November has marked the growth of an annual writing phenomenon: National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo, which sees writing communities and novelists across the world busily tapping away at their keyboards to tackle the task of each writing 50 000 words in 30 days.

NaNoWriMo’s Adelaide Municipal Liaison and long-term participant, Melissa Adams, spoke with Festival City’s Emma Wotzke about her own experiences of embracing the novel writing challenge for the last 14 years and how her role with NaNoWriMo has evolved throughout her region, here in Adelaide.
