In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln gave the renowned Gettysburg Address during the American Civil War at the National Cemetery, a site of the Battle of Gettysburg.

In 1998, Vincent van Gogh’s painting “Portrait of the Artist Without a Beard” sold at a New York auction for $71 million dollars, the second highest price paid for a van Gogh artwork at auction.

In 1954, Sammy Davis Jr. was nearly killed in a car accident in San Bernardino, California. The bullet-shaped horn on the steering wheel of his Cadillac caused him to lose his left eye.
