Cut the Cost of Electric Cars

Electric vehicles are gaining in popularity as they become the next big way we can cut our CO2 emissions, but currently they cost more in Australia than overseas.

Australia does not currently impose emissions or fuel economy standards on new cars to encourage the sale of electric vehicles.

Peter Martin, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University’s Crawford School of Public Policy, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann us now to tell us more about how emissions standards influence the uptake of electric vehicles.
