Government Gunning for Data Centralisation

A new proposal from the government that was introduced at the beginning of this month largely flew under the radar.

The new proposal could allow the development of a “trusted digital identity” system, which would become the way Australians would access public services. It would see much more data stored in the one place and has some experts concerned.

Kelsie Nabben, a researcher at the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann to discuss the proposal and its potential ramifications.
