Net zero by 2050 – only if fossil fuels go

Later this month, Prime Minister Scott Morrison will likely announce a “net-zero emissions by 2050 target” On the face of it, the concept of a “net-zero 2050” target looks good.

However, we are dealing with a Coalition government which has consistently been a laggard on climate action.

To examine such a target and how it might be framed by a Morrison government, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Polly Hemming, climate and energy advisor at The Australia Institute.
