Petition: Save Lion Arts and Five Four

Posted on: Mon 11 Oct 2021

A petition to save Lion Arts Factory and Five Four Entertainment has been gaining massive community support, as both these major local music and event businesses face potential bankruptcy within the next six months.

Five Four Entertainment, notably, is behind St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Spin Off Festival, while Lion Arts is an award-winning music venue that has hosted the likes of Hiatus Koyote and Genesis Owusu.

The petition states that the collapse of these two businesses would mean a loss of $28 million to the state, as well as a loss of 15 full-time positions and nearly 2,500 flow-on roles and opportunities.

Co-director of Lion Arts and Five Four Craig Lock joins Breakfast’s Anisha Pillarisetty and Shannon Pearce to talk about the future of these iconic venues and festivals, and what you can do to help.
