Former liberal mp, Julia Banks has spoken out about her time in parliaments in her new memoir Power Play: Breaking Through Bias, Barriers and Boys’ Clubs.

Ms Banks says entering politics had felt like “stepping back in time” to the 1980s and has come forward with an alleged sexual assault by colleague.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Scott Morrison said: “The Prime Minister is not aware of any allegations of sexual harassment Ms Banks faced. Any such behavior is completely inappropriate”.

This adds to the growing narrative we’re seeing around this government, and says a lot about what parliament think about women.

Tom Mann speaks to Feminist Insider Meaghan King about this, and more feminism news.
