Norfolk Island reef thrives

Norfolk Island is a small volcanic outcrop located between New Caledonia and New Zealand, 1400 kilometres east of Australia’s Gold Coast. The picturesque island is surrounded by coral reefs, forming the Norfolk Marine Park.
The island is picturesque, but like marine environments across the world, the park is subject to pressures from climate change, fishing, habitat change and pollution.
To gain a picture of the Norfolk Marine Park, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to marine ecologist, John Turnbull, who is a Postdoctoral Research Associate, at the University of New South Wales.
