France and Germany are suspending the use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2021

France and Germany have join Ireland, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands in suspending the use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

This is despite the European Medicines Agency and the World Health Organisation advise for people to continue taking it.

The European governments claim  that they are acting out of “an abundance of caution”.

Also, Germany is set for their federal election in September this year. Polls show Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union Party is falling behind in key regional votes.
