On this day in history:

In 1582, the Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII through the papal bull Inter Gravissimas.

In 1868, the impeachment of US president Andrew Johnson was initiated.
The US House of Representatives later resolved to impeach President Johnson; becoming the first US president to be impeached.

In 1993, Eric Clapton’s Tears in Heaven won three awards and was nominated for two more at the 35th Grammy Awards. It won best male pop vocal performance, record of the year, and song of the year.
