‘Superbug’ key in antibiotic resistance study

Antibiotics are a common treatment to infection, however antibiotic-resistance means that sometimes the drug can’t do what it’s meant to.

New research published this week in the prestigious journal Nature Microbiology has discovered how to revert antibiotic-resistance in one of the most dangerous superbugs.

Lead author of the study, Dr Fernando Gordillo Altamirano from the Monash University School of Biological Sciences, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to discuss.
