Dione Green: Cluckers – A great service, then what!

Every day in Australia, thousands of laying hens are culled, even though their ability to lay has not ceased. Free range eggs, especially from organic poultry farms seem like an ethical food choice for someone who cares about animal welfare. What happens to the hens once their egg production slows down? And what are the alternatives?

This lovely feature ‘Mother Cluckers’ from Dione Green, an omnivore in a town full of vegans at Bay FM in Bundjalung country, is part of the 2020 CBAA National Features & Documentary Series.
