A report just released examines plans for the approaching closure and subsequent rehabilitation of the Ranger Uranium Mine, located inside the Kakadu National Park.
The report finds that the proposed plan has significant shortcomings. After reviewing the closure plan, the authors found a range of impediments to achieving the goal of comprehensively rehabilitating the Ranger site for incorporation into the Kakadu National Park.
To examine the Ranger rehabilitation plan, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to one of the reports’ authors, Dave Sweeney, Nuclear Free Campaigner for the Australian Conservation Foundation.
