SARAA’s Kelly Vincent Breaks Down Gay Panic Defence

Posted on: Thu 3 Dec 2020

On the 1st of December, a bill to outlaw the Gay Panic Defence was passed in the South Australian Parliament. A momentous but long overdue move that has made South Australia the last state in Australia to abolish the law.

One of the key organisations behind the reintroduction of this issue in parliament is the South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance. Pride & Prejudice’s Caitlin had a chat with Kelly Vincent, SARAA’s Policy and Project Officer, about the journey to this point.
