  • The 1480 Great Stand on the Ugra River in Russia occurred between the Mongol Golden Horde led by Ahmed bin Küchük and Ivan the Third, Grand Prince of the rising Moscow Principality.
  • In 1769 Captain James Cook landed at Poverty Bay in New Zealand.
  • The silent short film The Second Hundred Years starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy was released in 1927.
  • And Beatles musician, John Lennon released his best-selling single Imagine in 1971.
