2020 AIR Awards

AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to shining a spotlight on the Australian independent music community and industry, representing and supporting independent labels and artists.
The annual AIR Awards celebrate and support the achievements and labour of many artists and labels, often being an act’s first industry award, leading to greater recognition and success.
Local Noise’s Ryan Sahb spoke with CEO of AIR, Maria Amato, about the 2020 AIR Awards taking place Thursday, 1st October; the difficulties in adjusting to an exclusively digital climate, celebrating national talent across physical divides, and the importance of recognising independent musical talent in a period of jeopardy for arts communities at large.
