Pacific people fighting back

Sea level rise is a serious threat to the low-lying islands of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean.

To fight it, their president recently announced that he plans to raise the islands to make them habitable for as long as possible.

To examine the environmental, cultural and political aspects of Kiribati’s situation, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Patrick Nunn, Professor of Geography at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
