Lit Therapy in Classrooms

The idea of putting your emotions down on paper is nothing new, though it is often done in a private setting.

However, some claim that, if done in the right circumstances, writing and talking about them in a public setting can be just as valuable.

Yannick Thoraval is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Creative Writing, Cultural Studies and Social Policy and a lecturer at RMIT who employs ‘lit therapy’ in his own classroom.

He spoke with Breakfast’s Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann about the benefits and limitations of lit therapy.
