Classic creep-show ‘Gaslight’

Posted on: Tue 25 Aug 2020

This September, State Theatre Company present the mind-bending Victorian thriller, Patrick Hamilton’s Gaslight.

Written in 1938 and spawning the 1944 film of the same name, and the term we know today, this classic creep-show comes storming into 2020 in a production that sees it become more relevant than ever.

In this reimagining of Gaslight, Director Catherine Fitzgerald flips notions of class, gender and conventional theatre roles upside down, bringing this text into the 21st century.

Pink Rabbit’s Soph Landau spoke with Catherine about the upcoming production, first asking what can be revealed about the plot.

Gaslight is playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 3-19 September.
