Don’t kick them off the spectrum

Posted on: Tue 19 May 2020

Community TV has taken quite a battering since 2014, when the Federal government announced it would kick them off the free to air TV broadcast spectrum. Since then the Australian Community TV Alliance has fought to keep that license SIX times. CTV stations in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth have closed. Channel 44 in Adelaide and Channel 31 Melbourne  remain, online and on air. But now they are on notice to become white noise by June 30. Not the sort of thing you want to manage in the middle of a pandemic, but Kristen Hamill and her team are giving it their best shot to stay on air.
