Why hasn’t the IOC cancelled the 2020 Tokyo Olympics?

As the corona virus pandemic continues to grind many facets of our day to day lives to a halt, we’ve seen many public events cancelled.

However, the International Olympic Committee continues to hold firm with the 2020 Tokyo games. So why haven’t they been cancelled too?
