Its May 9th and on this day in history…

In 1988, the new Parliament House building was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2006, trapped miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb are freed from the Beaconsfield mine.

Billy Joel also celebrates his 70th birthday today.
