Everyone knows about coral reefs, but we have almost forgotten about shell reefs, which were dredged almost to extinction a hundred years ago. Malacologists like Peter Hunt are rediscovering the importance of these reefs, as well as the sea creatures who build them. Barometer’s Sue Reece speaks with Peter Hunt
