Managing phones and loans

Posted on: Thu 5 Apr 2018

In this week’s program, we talk about ways to manage money, loans and the cost of having a mobile phone.

The Anangu Lands Paper Tracker recently interviewed Mark Bolton from Telstra about the six new mobile phone towers that are being built across the APY Lands, and we thought it would be good to talk about mobile phone contracts and good ways to manage internet and mobile data.

Linked to managing phones, we’re also going to find out about loans and the best way to manage debt.

To find out more about these issues, we talk with Deanne Gibbs, who is a Community Engagement Officer at MoneyMob Talkabout. Deanne is involved in the ‘Loans and Phones’ Project.

MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation that provides financial counselling programs in APY communities.

MoneyMob has three offices in the communities of Ernabella (Pukatja), Amata and Kanpi. The organisation also acts as an agent for Service SA and Centrelink through its Pukatja Office, and acts as a Centrelink agent at their Kanpi office.
