the marine aftermath of Japans 2011 earthquake

Posted on: Mon 2 Oct 2017

In 2o11, a massive earthquake and tsunami struck the east coast of Japan which had a devastating effect across the country and the surrounding region.

Six years later, recent study has revealed that hundreds of marine species have washed up in the US on huge ‘rafts’ of debris as a result of this tsunami.

According to Professor Steven Chown from Monash University… it is possible that a small proportion of these species will have a devastating effect on the ecosystem.

Professor Chown joins Breakfast hosts Tom Mann and Ian Newton to discuss this extremely bizarre event.
