ALRC launches its national report on elder abuse

Posted on: Wed 21 Jun 2017

The Australian Law Reform Commission last week launched its report, Elder Abuse – A National Legal Response.

The report is a culmination of 15 months of meetings with 117 stakeholders around the country, two consultation documents, and more than 450 submissions.

The report considers Commonwealth laws and legal frameworks and how they might better protect older persons from misuse or abuse, and safeguard their autonomy.

Australian Law Reform Commission President, Professor Rosalind Croucher AM, joined Small Change’s Lisa Burns for a chat about the findings of the report, its recommendations and her personal reflections on elder abuse.
