On This Day – May 12

Posted on: Fri 12 May 2017

In 1952, following the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII, George VI and his consort, Lady Elizabeth held their coronation and were crowned King and Queen of England at Westminster Abbey.

Also on this day, Florence Nightingale was born in Florence in 1820. Nightingale changed the face of health care in the period though her work in the Crimean war and her writings and teachings thereafter.
