Index maps communities’ digital inclusion

Digital technologies are now taking a key role in our economic and social life, yet large numbers of people don’t have the on-line access to help them with job hunting, education and training, social interaction and other supports that could improve their lives.
Last week, SACOSS launched its Submission to this year’s State Budget, which identifies and makes policy recommendations on the issues surrounding digital inclusion.
Julian Thomas is a Professor of Media and Communications at RMIT University, and the author of the Australian Digital Inclusion Index 2016.
Small Change’s Lisa Burns joined him for a chat and he started off by explaining when his research first started.
