Survival Day 2016 – Still Surviving, Still Thriving

Posted on: Mon 25 Jan 2016

Each year Tandanya Aboriginal Cultural Institute partner with other organisations including Kura Yerlo to present the Survival Day event on 26 January – a day of music, family-fun entertainment, presentations and workshops.

The theme this year is “Still Surviving, Still Thriving” and in promoting the event Tandanya says “Survival Day is a particularly important date as we gather to not only celebrate and commemorate the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but to also acknowledge and strengthen the present and future of our great culture”.

We speak to event organiser Narisha Cash about Survival Day 2016.

You can also hear an interview and performance by Tilly Thomas, a 13 year old performer who features on the day here.
