On This Day – 12th August

Posted on: Wed 12 Aug 2020

On this day in history;

In 1916, Pablo Picasso was pictured in a rare photograph with artistic contemporaries at Cafe de la Rotonde on the famous Boulevard du Montparnasse. Billy Klüver, an electrical engineer and art lecturer, spent 1978 to 2004 pinpointing the date in which this happened.

In 1991, Metallica released their laboured Magnum Opus, The Black Album, debuting at number one in 10 countries – going 16 times platinum. Across the year and a half, the recording coincided with three of the four members going through divorces with their wives.

Breakfast producer, Leon Bishop, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to elaborate on these events in history.
