Hanson’s Effect on Australia

Posted on: Wed 8 Jul 2020

The Australian public is no stranger to Pauline Hanson and her outspoken, right-wing commentary. Continuing to create controversy – Hanson appeared on the Today Show earlier this week giving an extensive rant with clear racist overtones.

Discussing the strict lock-down of public housing in Flemington and North Melbourne, Hanson made inappropriate assumptions about those inhabiting the Melbourne Towers with host, Today’s Alison Langdon.

Consequently, both Today and Sunrise have cut ties with the One Nation senator on the grounds of her ill-informed and provocative remarks.

Denis Muller, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne joined Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to provide some light on the situation.
